The 2nd Annual WSU/RIM PM&R Medical Student Interest Group Fair was held at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan on February 3rd, 2015. The fair was organized by Dr. Ami Mac, Dr. Michael Ajluni, and the WSU/RIM PM&R Medical Student Interest Group. Medical students from Wayne State University, Michigan State University, and Oakland University attended.
Prior to clinical rotations in their third year, first and second year medical students have limited interactions with attending physicians, especially those in subspecialties. Fairs such as these are a powerful tool for physicians and medical educators to expand students’ clinical experiences. Students also meet other professionals (e.g. therapists, nurses, medical equipment specialists) and learn about their roles on a health care team.
Following the success of last year’s fair, this year’s fair received funding from the RIM Foundation and found further sponsorship from the Academy of Academic Physiatrists, Wayne State University School of Medicine, and the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
